Concept map
Below are two photos of our concept map in which all of our group contributed ideas too. I wrote the one on the left and Grace wrote the one on the right however both show all of our ideas. The concept maps show what we intend to include in our thriller opening. The topics discussed on the concept map are the following: Camerawork, Editing, Characters, the sub-genre, the basic plot, mise en scene, sound and credits.
Costumes
I was in charge of costumes so it was my responsibility to get photos of the costumes but also to make sure that they had continuity and fit all elements of our thriller film opening
Girl number 1 (My outfit) – One of the girls will wear her hair down and straight, her makeup will be natural to give an everyday look. She will be wearing denim jeans, brown ankle boots, a black and grey jumper and a blue/navy coat. Her outfit matches the continuity of the scene as it will be set during winter and in a woodland area.
Girl number 2 (Zara’s outfit) - The second girl will be wearing jeans, a red top, a grey hoodie, a green coat and white converse. This is an everyday casual outfit for teenage girls so it shows the innocence of the girls not knowing what is about to happen. She has medium brown hair which will be down and will be wearing little to no makeup to show realism and connotes a natural everyday look.
Girl number 3 (Grace’s outfit) – The third girl will be wearing blue skinny jeans, a grey jumper, brown ankle boots and a navy coat. Once again this is just a typical everyday outfit from a teenage girl, allowing her costume to help represent her character. She has brown curly hair which will be down; once again her makeup will be kept natural to show the innocence of the girls, which makes the tension build more as they will be seen as vulnerable.
Girl number 4 (Annabel/Emily's) – The final girl will be wearing black skinny jeans, a white shirt and a coat. The white shirt will connote the characters innocence and purity, making her more vulnerable to the danger that is approaching. She will be wearing muddy converse type shoes, in which half way through the opening we will see with a small amount of blood on them. Her hair will also be down showing the freeness all the girls believe they have, and also her makeup will be natural, however she will wear slightly more than the other girls to focus the attention more on her as she is the main character in this opening.
Clown- The clown will be wearing an orange convict costume and a full face clown mask to connote unrealistic setting which makes the audience tense. To begin with we was going to have the clown in a full clown suit however we soon discovered that it would be too expensive for us to buy a clown costume or rent one. As Grace did some research and found that it would be £15 to rent a clown costume for a day, therefore we decided to go with the convict costume as we were able to borrow it from a friend, which meant we did not have to pay any money towards it and it still fits in with out idea as we will still use a clown mask. Below is a picture of the convict costume and the clown mask we will use. Also below are two photos, back and front of Josh. The actor that will be playing the clown in our thriller opening. We felt Josh was a good choice to be in our thriller opening as he is willing to do whatever we ask of him and he was also in our preliminary task so he understands how we work as a team.
Setting
Location - 7th December 2014
Grace Suiter was in charge of the setting for our thriller opening. She went to Shouldham warren and photographed different scenery in which we could use. As a group, we decided on a woodland setting as we found that from our audience research it was a very popular setting. We also considered the season in which will be filming in when deciding our setting. As we will be filming around january/febuary time, the nights will still be getting darker earlier, allowing us to get naturalistic light if we wish, and also low key lighting later on in the evening. To the right are the photos Grace took when visiting the woods.

Credits
Credits - 9th December 2014
Myself and Grace decided to do the credits. We created a powerpoint with a range of different font styles for our production company name - Blumhouse. We decided on Blumhouse productions as Tommy did some research into procuction companies specialising in thriller films and decided that this production company would best fit our thriller opening. To the right is a slideshow of the powerpoint we created with a range of different fonts, sizes, boldness etc. The variety of the different texts will give us a choice later on in deciding how we want our credits to be presented in our opening.
Sounds
I was responsible for researching the non digetic sound we could include in our thriller opening, the sound needed to be copyright free so firstly i started with researching different websites in which offered this. I found epidemic sound which offered downloadable copyright free music and a channel on youtube which offered the same qualities. The picture on the right shows 3 songs I have chosen from the selection that epidemic sound gives which i felt fit the features of our film. They are all creepy and myseterious soundtracks that could be used for non digetic sound. Below is a video from youtube of 'Ring around the rosie' however a creepy, original video. I have also added in a print screen of the permission given to use the music from the owner. As a group we discussed the idea of a creepy nursery rhyme as it fits the character of a clown. Also i came up with the idea of getting a jack in the box soundtrack as it can be made very creepy and links greatly to the clown in the woods, however i discovered it was very difficult to try and find a copyright free version of the song, which may cause difficulty in getting the track for our film opening.
Props
On the right is a picture of a spider diagram we made of ideas of the props we could include in our extract. There are not many props as we did not want our opening to be overpowered by props as the setting of the woods will give an equally tense atmosphere. Also below is a powerpoint on possible ideas for props we could use and where we would get them from.
Storyboard
Myself and Grace decided to do the story board, however Tommy contibuted ideas to the transition shots we could use. We started by talking about the different shots we could use in order to fit our plot. We discussed this for a while before starting our storyboard as it was important that our camerashots and editing decisions matched the pictures we were to draw on our storyboard. Myself and Grace then took it in turns to draw and connote the slides in our storyboard. We also decided on how long we thought each shot should last however this may change when we start filming and editing. We tried to use a range of terminolgy in our storyboard, such as camera angles, the lighting we can use and editing techniques as this will make it easier for us when we begin making our thriller film opening. This storyboard is a rough idea of what we want to do with our thriller opening so it may change when we begin however the ideas we have come up with will help us a lot.
Shooting script
On the left is a shooting script that myself and Grace made together. We felt that making a shooting script would help us when filming and editing as we would be able to follow it if we werent sure what to do. The shooting script is similar to our storyboard and shows the information needed for each shot we take. Including, the transition, the camerashot, the events which take place, the sound that will be used in that particular shot, mise en scene and the time that shot will take.
