Treatment

Treatment is the planning before the filming can begin. Treatment is usually done in the form of a storyboard so it is clear and easy to see, therefore the ideas will be presented in a way that is easy to understand and interpret. Below i will show mine and my groups treatment for our short film for the priliminary task.

Basic Plot

For our priliminary task we would like to create a short extract of a wary paitent making her way to the doctors room in which two lines of conversation will be held between the doctor and the paitent. To make the extract fun, my group decided that we would use a 'doctor joke' in which will be said at the end of the extract. The extract genre will be a drama/comedy in which we will use, match on action shot, 180 degree rule and the shot reverse shot as the main camera techniques. We will also add in different editing techniques once the filming has been completed.

Casting

Our group decided that we would have 2 main characters. The patient will be female and the doctor will be male. We decided that Grace will play the paitent and Tommy will play the doctor. We will also have background actors such as the receptionists and paitents in the waiting room, and people walking past as the female paitent is walking down the corridor.

Costumes

As we will be filming our short extract during our media lessons one day at sixth form we decided to keep the costumes fairly casual. The female paitent will wear casual, every day clothes to keep the situation realistic. As will the background actors. However the doctor will wear a lab jacket to show a sense of realism towards the doctors occupation.

Location

As we will be filming during school hours, our group decided that we will use the sixth form as our location as it is easily accessible and we will not have to worry about travel expensives if we were to film somewhere else. We decided that we would film using one of the classrooms in the sixth form, a corridor, and the reception area. Below are some photos of the locations we used.

Props

We decided that we do not need many props for our short extract except tables and chairs and the door in which the paitent will walk through. These are our only main props as the extract is so short not much is needed. Below are some pictures of the props used.

Story Board

Below is a picture of our storyboard that we created to show what we wanted to include in our short extract. The story board shows a rough diagram of what we want that particular shot to look like with a short description below that inlcudes the camera shots, what is happening in that shot and the editing technique that we will add in after the filming is complete.
