Lauren Aquilina is a British singer songwriter born in Kent who began to become recognised by independently releasing a trilogy of Eps while studying. The names of these Eps are: Fools, Sinners and Liars. They all feature songs written and perfomed by Lauren. She is currently working on releasing her first album after being signed to Island records and Universal music group. Her genre is mainly indie pop, indie folk and soul music with her mainly producing acoustic music. Lauren has also learnt to play the piano and guitar which is reflected in her eps. 

When choosing our artist myself, Grace and Milo decided we wanted to make our music video to a slow acoustic song as we had some ideas that we wanted to put across. From this we did plenty of research into trying to find an unsigned artist whos music fitted the sound we wanted to work with. To do this we spent some of our media lessons looking on websites such as sound cloud and youtube searching for orignial songs or unsigned artists however we struggled to find someone who we all liked and would be possible to reach. Therefore, after already having Laurens Eps and listening to her music for a while I suggested her to the group. We were all a bit hesitate to start with due to her being signed to a large record label such as Island records and Universal Music Group but we decided to look into all of her songs anyway and decided which one we would like to use if permission was given. We spent one of our media lessons listening to the majority of her songs and all giving suggestions on what we liked and didn't like about each one. We also suggested ideas we could use in the music videos for different songs. Eventually we all decided we liked her song 'Lovers or Liars' from her ep Liars that was released in 2014. From this decision we decided to contact Lauren's agent and ask for their permission to use the song as we did not want to breach any copyright laws. As I already followed Lauren's facebook page I looked into finding the contact details. After finding the email address I emailed Lauren's agent asking for permission, almost instantly we received a email back from Lauren herself stating that it was fine to use her song and that she wished us luck. Due to gaining her permission we will now look into the different videos and genre conventions of Lauren's genre which is mainly Indie-pop.
