Our Record Label
18/09/15

When deciding on a name for our recording studios Grace, Milo and I felt that we would use the initials from the beginning of our names. So we came up with KGM records originally however after doing some research we found that this record company already existed and therefore to prevent copyright we changed the 'records' to 'sound', creating KGM SOUND. After we decided on a name we looked back at our research of record labels and decided that for our logo we wanted something that represents the music industry which would therefore make our label recognisable to our audience. Therefore I suggested the idea of a pair of headphones with the cable spelling the letters 'KGM' and then sans serif capitisled font saying 'sound' to show the professional side of our logo. From this I began drawing the logo and once I had finished Milo scanned my drawing and edited it on the computer to give it a more professional look. We as a group decided that the logo was better in just black and white as it connoted a classy yet professional look to it which we want to represent our artist as also. Although our logo could possibly be interpreted as more of a Hip-hop record label we decided to challenge the conventions as currently there is artists such as Ed sheeran that cross between the indie genre and hip hop therefore we considered our chosen genre which is Indie pop to be represented by the headphones which are now used and seen in everyday life, therefore our logo is universal.
