Sony music was founded in 1929 named as the American music cooperation, over the years the company has changed names ending up with the name sony music in 2008. Sony music has produced artists over the years such as Elvis Presley and currently has artists signed such as Beyonce and Bring me the horizon. The sony music logo is fairly simple like other record labels however has the boldness of the red sweep. Red typically connotes danager when used with logos, therefore this could suggest that Sony Music often take risks that pay off. It also shows

creativity within the company which connotes that the artists signed to sony music are creative. The black serif font of the record labels name shows the professional nature of sony music's record label. Although simple, the red sweep will catch the audiences attention, and with the name being directly underneath the simplicity creates familiarity allowing the logo to be recognisable.
Island records is a major British recording label that was founded in 1962. Island records has successful artists such as Ariana Grande, McBusted and Robbie Williams. The serif black font, all capitalised of the logo 'ISLAND' allows the companies name to stand out as it is instantly eye catching. The cut out palm tree on th black background links with the record labels name as typically we associate palm trees when thinking of an island. The image also connotes youth and suggests that the record label holds many young and inspiring artists, this therefore could help promote the artists and allow the audience to become intigued to the youth of the record label. Also the black and white logo creates a professional and sophisticated image as black and white is typically associated as classy and well established.

Universal Music Group is an American worldwide music corporation that is also a subsidiary of french media conglomerate Vivendi. Universal Music Group has signed very successful artists over the years such as Amy Whinehouse and Frank Sinatra and more recently artists such as Kayne West and Ellie Goulding. Universal is a major company within the media industry, not only having a record label but also a production
company and even theme park in the United States. This means the logo on the world with the word 'universal' overlapping it is a extremely regocnisable logo for the majority of the world. Therefore Universal Music group has kept the same logo and just added in their name 'universal music group' at the bottom of the image to show that this is the record label side of universal's organisation. Once again the black and white logo shows the professional nature to universal and that the simplicity of the logo allows familiarity as universal are a very popular organisation.

Virgin Records is a British Recording label founded by Richard Branson. Virgin has artists such as Ella Eyre, Bastille and Catfish and the bottleman. Virgin, much like Universal, is not just a recording label. Virgin has a tv channel, an airline and much more. Therefore they have kept their original trademark logo of the sans serif red font. The text font almost looks like it has been drawn with a paintbrush, connoting an artistic and creative image, possibly representing their artists. The all capitalised 'records' below the 'virgin' sign is also in red to keep the companies trademark, however the capitalised font allows it to stand out and be noticable allow audiences to recognise the brand.
