To the left is our rough cut for our music video for Lovers or liars by Lauren Aquilina. Myself, Milo and Grace tried to add a range of editing techniques while making our video however at the same time we made sure they fit the indie genre, with the exception of a few that challenge the genre yet add effect. Once completing our music video we gained feedback from a group of females as our target audince is majoritly young females.

Here is our audience feedback on our rough cut for our music video. From our audience feedback we recieved mostly positive comments about the video regarding our use of camerashots and editing. We also recieved feedback that the dialogue at the beginning of the music video was good and helped fit the mood and identify the genre. This greatly helped our group as originally we were unsure whether the dialogue was too cliche as we didnt want our music video to have the narrative of a cliche break up however the feedback from our

audience meant that we will keep the dialogue in our final cut. The suggestions we gathered from our audience was to change the length of the last shot in which the performer tips her head down and then up again, some people from our target audience suggested making the change between the two shots quicker in order for the audience not to be waiting around to see what happens. The only other suggestion we had was to include more fade transitions as the audience liked how the fades allowed for the music video to flow.

From our audience feedback we created the video positioned to the left. After looking over our audience feedback we decided to add in more fades and jump shots as many of our audience suggested this as they thought the fades helped set the mood and the genre. Even though it is not stated in our feedback video, myself, Milo and Grace continued to show our video to others to get a wider feedback range. One of the comments we got was that our video consisted of a lot of emotional close ups of our artist and not enough varied shots much like the ring and flowers concept we have used. From

this comment we decided to add in another shot that showed meaning and helps to guide the audience into telling that heartbreak is the reason for our artists pain and emotion. We decided ripping a picture of a couple holding hands would be effective as it represents the break up however also allows our video not to fall into the cliche break up video that we did not want. As a group we decided that placing this shot between our tracking shot of the artist on the stairs at 1.49 - 2.05 would fit well as it shows reflection and allows our artist to become associated with the break up more. After completing these changes we uploaded our music video and then collected one final piece of feedback from a fellow media student, we asked her to take notes on the strengths and weaknesses of our video. Her comments are shown below.

Here is the list from a fellow media student stating our strengths and weaknesses (Even Better If's) of our music video. The strenths consisted of our lip syncing, the range of close ups, the contrasts between the black and white filter and the coloured shots. She also liked our use of make up and the concept behind the make up as well as the symbolism shown throughout the music video. Other positive comments also included the use of panning, direct address and the different settings and shots we used. Overall we were pleased with these comments. From this feedback we also learnt that she did not like the extreme long shot at the beginning of the video as she explained to us after writting the comment that extreme long shots dont fit overly well with our genre (Indie-pop). From this as a group we worked together to change the extreme long shot at the beinning to just a mid shot. The only other comment we gained from our feedback was she noticed there was a lack of a male present in the video. However once we explained that we did not want to include a male as we did not want our video to look like a cliche relationship break up and the focus was more on the artists pain and her emotion rather than the relationship she said she understood and actually preferred our idea to having a male present. Therefore we decided there was nothing else we wanted to change about our video and produced the final cut.
